Turning IPL fever into store visits for Vodafone

Vodafone India, the Indian arm of the UK-based Vodafone Group, wanted more people walking into its stores during the Indian Premier League. We handled the digital side of a bigger on-ground campaign.

The challenge

Everyone advertises during IPL. Vodafone needed young cricket fans to leave their screens and visit a store, where they could join an in-store event and win free tickets to upcoming IPL matches. Awareness was the key.

The battle plan

  1. 1

    Find the cricket fans

We segmented the audience by region and language, and targeted people who had shown interest in IPL.

  2. 2

Ads that felt like the TV spot

We built a series of eye-catching Facebook ads inspired by Vodafone’s TV commercial, so the campaign stayed consistent while each piece was made for the platform.

  3. 3

    Speak their language

The creatives were adapted into several Indian languages, so regional audiences saw the offer in their own language.

  4. 4

    Push to the nearest store

Every ad drove interested fans to visit a nearby Vodafone store and take part in the in-store event, while Brand 2 People ran the on-ground promotions.

What happened

  • 1.3 million people reached
  • 37% increase in store footfall
  • 7.2% lift in ad recall
  • 4.9% lift in brand presence

if we ran it today…

We would make the ad in ten languages in an afternoon with AI voice and lip-sync, run short AI-presenter quiz reels during live matches, and use store-visit conversion tracking to see which language and creative pulled people in.
